The theme for Science Week 2009 is “Science Week – Celebrating Creativity and Innovation”.
Thousands of people are expected to attend over 400 events across the country during the week, which runs from Sunday 8 November until Sunday 15 November.
This year’s highlights include:
- Science fairs in Limerick, Waterford, Sligo, Galway and Cork
- A free lecture series in the Science Gallery in Dublin for secondary school students which will showcase Irish innovation and career opportunities
Celebrating the EU Year of Creativity and Innovation, Science Week 2009 aims to raise awareness of the importance of creativity and innovation for social and economic development.
Events are aimed at children, secondary school students, parents, teachers and others who may be interested in science and its applications.
Science Rap
This year’s Science Week has a “Science Rap Challenge”. The competition aims to come up with the best rap music about science and technology.
