The Large Hadron Rap
The Science Raps Challenge was inspired by the Large Hadron Rap which has been viewed more than 5.3 million times on YouTube.
To get a flavour of the Irish competition, Jon Chase from the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre came up with his own rap challenging Irish students to compose and video their own rap on this year’s Science Week theme, “Celebrating Creativity and Innovation”.
Jon is a researcher in Science Communication at the University of Glamorgan in Wales and holds undergraduate degrees in aerospace engineering, and science and science fiction.
The competition is being organised by the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre (APC) at University College Cork.
The APC is a research centre focusing on gastrointestinal health and is a partnership between UCC, Teagasc Moorepark Food Research Centre and industry. Microbe Magic is the APC’s interactive science website.
