There’s still time to enter the competition to name Ireland’s new 32-metre satellite dish. The Deep Space Radio Telescope will be located at the National Space Centre and will be used to observe and study cosmic events.
Schools are invited to participate in the competition to name the satellite and the winner will be allowed to light up the satellite at the National Space Centre in Middleton, County Cork, during Science Week.
The winning school will also receive a telescope, ‘space ice cream’ and a visit from Blackrock Castle Observatory’s mobile planetarium, the Star Dome. The competition closes at 5pm on 28 October. Learn more at Blackrock Castle Observatory’s website.
