Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) is marking its 40th anniversary with a special competition for Transition Year students in Galway and Mayo.
You could be in with a chance to win a place on board the Marine Institute’s research vessel the Celtic Voyager in Galway Bay on Sunday 7 October.
Students will set sail on the Celtic Voyager from the Galway docks for a marine survey. The expedition will be led by experienced scientists from the Strategic Marine Alliance for Research and Training and GMIT.
Places are limited to 10 students. Application to participate is via a photograph and caption competition, “Water, Our Greatest Resource”, in which applicants are asked to submit a photograph of an aspect of Ireland’s ocean that interests them.
How to enter
The competition can be entered by uploading your photo entry and description to GMIT’s Facebook page.
Each photo entry must include:
- Your name
- Your school
- A contact number/email address
- Your photo
- A 200-word photo description (maximum of 200 words of text) explaining your photo’s significance
Applications should be supported by the Transition Year coordinator in your school and a letter of permission from a parent or guardian.
The closing date for entries to the Facebook page is 21 September 2012.
