The Eircom Junior Spider Awards have been set up to recognise internet achievements by students at primary and post-primary schools. Awards will recognise successful and clever ways in which students use the web to benefit their local school communities.
The Junior Spiders are now open for entries from schools in the Republic and in Northern Ireland. The awards aim to:
- Recognise innovation amongst existing internet users in schools and encourage other students to use the Web to develop their education and technology skills
- Provide examples of excellence in schools and encourage and promote best practice and internet safety awareness amongst students
- Help students who wish to pursue a career in this sector by providing access to relevant business people
The Junior Spiders are a parallel programme to the Eircom Golden Spider Awards that have celebrated the successes of the Irish internet and digital media since 1996.
