3M Futurewise is a new website with free teaching resources to educate secondary students on sustainable development and stimulate their involvement in science.
It features an interactive virtual town and shows young people how society needs scientists, engineers and new technology to help solve the problems of the future.
The initiative is part of 3M’s wider international campaign to highlight and improve student take-up of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects.
“We hope to engage and motivate students to choose science and maths subjects in secondary school, looking forward to future careers in engineering, technology and science,” says 3M Ireland’s General Manager, Paul Knowles.
“Designed for use with 11 to 16-year-old students, 3M Futurewise looks beyond the obvious advice and considers the issues surrounding sustainability.”
