The deadline is fast approaching to apply for a Naughton Scholarship. This scheme, now in its second year, is for students in Ireland going into engineering, science and technology courses in third-level colleges.
For 2009, the scheme applies to secondary students in counties Donegal, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan and Louth. The student with the first-place award in each of these counties will get €4,000 for each year of their third-level course. The second-place award is €2,000 for each year.
The awards are sponsored by entrepreneur Martin Naughton and his wife Carmel to promote the study of science, technology and engineering at third level.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 5.30pm on 30 April 2009.
