Solar Stormwatch – scientists need you!

Date: 1 January 1970 Location: Trinity College Dublin

Trinity College Dublin is hosting the STEREO Science Working Group 21 convention from 22-26 March 2010.

STEREO is the Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory, an innovative NASA mission to study how large solar storms influence our life on earth.

As part of the convention, two of the world’s leading female solar scientists will give public lectures in the Science Gallery.

Dr Natasha Waterson from the Royal Observatory Greenwich will introduce a new citizen science project – Solar Stormwatch.

Find out how you can spot solar explosions and track them across space to Earth, get an update on the discoveries Solar Stormwatch contributors have made so far and snatch a sneak preview of some new data analysis challenges in the pipeline.

Bring your laptop to sign up and have a go! (Some laptops will be provided.)

For full details, see the Science Gallery website.
