		<description><![CDATA[If you missed the BT Young Scientist Exhibition, you can now view some the eye-catching projects in your own town or city.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Lifetime Lab will host a display of prize-winning projects by Cork entrants to the 2012 BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition  from Monday February 13th to Friday March 3rd  2012.</p>
<p>The students’ project posters will be on display in the Lifetime Lab Visitor Centre where members of the public will be able to view the students&#8217; work, as well as digital video clips of the students talking about their projects.</p>
<p>The exhibition is designed to showcase the work of students and teachers who have represented Cork at national level, and to give members of the public the chance to view the projects in their local area. For aspiring young scientists who have not had the opportunity to visit the Exhibition at the RDS in Dublin this is an ideal opportunity get a taste for what it is all about.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Learn about what makes us happy]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>To celebrate its 50th year, the School of Psychology at Trinity College Dublin will run an event in the Science Gallery called “Happy?” from 27 April to 1 June of this year.</p>
<p>The exhibition, which is running as part of the Dublin City of Science year, will look at the factors that affect happiness and wellbeing on a national scale and how these impact on innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship.</p>
<p>The event will feature SMS probes to measure levels of happiness and will also show the effect of therapeutic text messages on a person’s level of happiness.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[A new programming dojo will be established at Blackrock Castle Observatory in Co. Cork.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>James Whelton’s Coder Dojo movement, which provides free computer programming classes for children and teenagers is now starting up at CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory.</p>
<p>The first class runs on 19 February from 10am until 2pm and every Sunday thereafter.</p>
<p>Due to limited space, if you are interested in taking part you need to pre-register for the event by sending your email contact details to <a href="javascript:DeCryptX('jogpAcdp/jf')">info[at]bco[dot]ie</a></p>
<p>If you have a laptop, you should bring it – but don’t worry if you don’t. Anyone under the age of 12 who wishes to attend must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the class.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Public libraries will host science-theme events to celebrate Dublin City of Science 2012]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dublin City Libraries will celebrate Dublin City of Science 2012 by hosting a range of science-themed events over the coming year.</p>
<p>Some of the events will operate alongside other national programmes such as Engineers Week and Science Week, while others will run as part of a larger City of Science celebration.</p>
<p>These free events will take place in more than 20 public libraries in Dublin and will include workshops, exhibitions and lectures for all ages.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Arcade Science will make Dublin city a canvas for scientific photos]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As part of the European City of Science events, the Health Research Board is organising “Arcade Science” to turn Dublin city into a science canvas for the month of July.</p>
<p>Billboards and buildings around the city will display enormous scientific photographs in an effort to generate discussion about science among the public.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Nanolab is an event being run by the Science Gallery in conjunction with NanoNet Ireland and CRANN (the Centre for Research on Adaptive Nanostructures and Nanodevices) from 14 September to 14 October 2012.</p>
<p>This month-long exhibition will look at the current state of research in nanotechnology, what technology is currently available and in use and what we can expect to see in future.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Smartphones and volunteers bring show Dublin in a new light]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hack the City is an interactive exhibition being organised by the Science Gallery and will run from 22 June to 7 September 2012 as part of the Dublin City of Science 2012 campaign. With the help of ordinary citizens and a few smartphones, Hack the City will show visitors how we communicate, navigate, work and socialise.</p>
<p>Participating city dwellers will carry out research in Dublin city that will give us insights on everything from air quality to culture and show us how technology is transforming our urban centres.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Learn about cloaking devices, lasers and Saturn's largest moon]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>To celebrate Dublin&#8217;s status as the 2012 European City of Science, the School of Physics in UCD has teamed up with the Royal Dublin Society to bring some of the world&#8217;s leading physicists to speak in Dublin about the latest developments in their fields of research.</p>
<p>The topics include the physics of cloaking devices, the role of physics in biology, the use of lasers in medicine and a profile of  mysterious Titan, Saturn&#8217;s largest moon.</p>
<p>The lectures are free and suitable for ages from 12 upwards.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>During Engineers Week 2012 CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory in association with the Cork Electronics Industry Association will run electronic circuit workshops to explore how we use electricity every day. The workshops are daily from February 27 – March 2 and will run for an hour, with four workshops each day.</p>
<p>Each workshop will cost €50 with a maximum of 30-35 participants. The activity will be most suitable for children 10 to 12 years of age.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[The Blackrock Castle Observatory "Be a Brainbox!" workshops are back for the February mid-term break.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Blackrock Castle Observatory &#8220;Be a Brainbox!&#8221; workshops are back for the February mid-term break. The workshops are aimed at children aged eight and over (ages six and seven can be accompanied by an adult).</p>
<p>The workshops will explore electronic circuits and show children how we use electricity every day in various ways to help improve our lives.</p>
<p>The sessions will run at 2-3.30pm on February 13 – 17 and cost  €5 per child.</p>
<p>No booking is required but spaces are limited to 30 per workshop.</p>
